The Roger Federer Foundation is donating $1 million to provide nutritious meals to 64,000 vulnerable young children and their families through its partners in Africa while schools are closed, the foundation announced today.
On his Twitter page, the tennis star – whose mother Lynette Federer is a South African Expat – said, “Now more than ever we must come together to help families in need.”
The foundation, according to its website, “supports educational projects located in the region of southern Africa and Switzerland. The programmes on the African continent focus on the improvement of the quality of early learning and basic education and in Switzerland on the promotion of extra-curricular activities for children affected by poverty.”
