South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa will officially launch the African National Congress (ANC) Thuma Mina campaign in Tembisa, Johannesburg on Friday.
The Thuma Mina (which means ‘Send Me’) campaign hopes to address various issues and frustrations for the people of South Africa. The intention is to restore dignity and the ANC’s credibility among communities.
“Thuma Mina is an overall campaign where we are saying to our people “send us”. Send us wherever you need us to solve problems and improve your lives for the better….” said Ramaphosa.
This follows after the ANC lost key municipalities to the opposition in the 2016 local elections.
Earlier on Friday morning the president had a morning health walk with some of the ANC leaders and supporters in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni.
Thuma Mina will be officially launched at 14h00 Friday afternoon at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.
Afterwards, President Ramaphosa will head to Uganda for the weekend, to negotiate for lobola on behalf of his eldest son Andile Ramaphosa, according to SABC News.
The news station reports that Ramaphosa Jnr’s wedding to fiancée Bridget Birungi will take place later this year.
