Prince Harry tells Stellenbosch choir to “keep spreading the love” – WATCH
Prince Harry and his new BFF Stellenbosch University Choir…
Prince Harry delighted the Stellenbosch University choir in Tokyo, Japan, yesterday when he not only told them to “keep spreading the love”, but also asked for a group hug and then suggested they all shout ‘South Africa’ together! (SA and the African continent has long held a special place in Prince Harry’s heart.)
Stellenbosch University conductor André van der Merwe thanked the prince for taking so much time to stop and chat to them, and said “for such an icon, so modest”, to which Prince Harry said “well you are fabulous!” The students cheered in support, and after the Prince and Van der Merwe embraced, the South African musical arranger quipped: “I’m going to put that on my resume!”
The last time Prince Harry met South Africans in Japan was famously at the Rugby World Cup, when Faf de Klerk had nothing on but his SA flag speedo!
The Stellenbosch Uni Choir was at the ISPS (International Sports Promotion Society) Sports Values Summit ‘Special Edition’ in Japan this week, representing the university and South Africa, to open the summit.
Writing on his facebook page, Van der Merwe said afterwards: “Never in my wildest dreams… To sit down at dinner and have meaningful conversations with these legends (including Dan Carter). Where else in the world does the CEO of a company conclude a summit by singing to the Duke?? I am so proud of how the Stellenbosch University Choir rose to this event. My little ambassadors!”
Stellenbosch University posted the below video saying: “That moment Prince Harry meets the Stellenbosch University Choir and confesses to be a big fan🙌✨🎉 🤗..it’s the group hug at the end for us.”
What a moment! As one social media user said: “Dit is AMAZING!”
