Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry in Spring 2018, it has been announced by his father Prince Charles. An official photograph, announcing their engagement will be taken this afternoon.

The couple has been dating for a year, and reportedly got engaged earlier this month in England.

Prince Harry (33) and Markle (36) are set to live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London.

Prince Harry, who dated Zimbabwean Chelsy Davy for years, said in a statement today that he is “delighted to announce” the news and that he had received Markle’s parents’ approval.

Markle is known around the world for playing Rachel Zane in legal TV series ‘Suits’. She will reportedly be leaving the series. Markle was born in Los Angeles, and the couple met in her homeland. They managed to avoid the limelight for a few months before the press caught on, after which Prince Harry issued a rare public statement confirming his relationship and asking the press and public to allow his girlfriend some privacy and for trolls to stop making racist and sexist remarks. (Markle’s mother is African American while her father is white.)

Markle, who was previously married to a producer for two years, recently spoke to Vanity Fair magazine about her relationship with Prince Harry, saying simply: “We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle.

The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.

The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
