The annual Witness Spring Garden Show in Pietermaritzburg is in full swing this weekend, and SAPeople contributor Lorraine Scholfield was there today to capture these beautiful photos in honour of South Africa’s Heritage month this month… starting with these stunning Red Madiba Proteas. You can’t get more florally South African than this!
As explained on their website, the Spring Garden Show provides a “spectacular weekend filled with exhibitions, exquisite feature gardens, free talks and demos, food and shopping avenues filled with specialist plants, crafts and gardening goodies.”
“The two horses and carriage above are made out of hundreds of interesting bits of scrap metal,” says Lorraine.
“And the one below is made entirely out of icing sugar!”
The Show is held at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
It’s the perfect venue to showcase gorgeous garden displays, and for families to enjoy dog shows and the kids’ zone! There are even displays that children will love, like the ‘fantasy dragon’ below.
It’s a fantastic destination if you’re in KZN this weekend, with the pride of South Africa on show…
The show runs from 9am to 5pm daily, and finishes on Sunday 8 September. Get more info here.
