Read some of the dedications to special South African Moms below.

For a wonderful South African mom in Newbury, Berkshire, UK…

To the most wonderful mom in the world

This is what I thought when I was little:  “my mommy is the best!”

She always put me first…  My happynes, my dreams, my hobbies, my friends…

I was allowed to eat ice cream before lunch!  I did not have to tidy my room, as long as the door stayed closed!

She would buy me 10 gifts for my 10th birthday and 11 for my 11th.  (This might become quite expensive – I am 36 this year!)

My mom is the most generous person I know, with the most beautiful smile.

Her love of life and happyness is contagious and makes everyone around her feel great!

With all my love to the best mom ever!

For Maud’s mom Isabel Mtetwa in Gingindlovu, North Coast, Kwa-Zulu Natal…

I would like to send a special dedication to my mother. I would like to say thank you for giving it all that I be a better person. The sacrifice, sending me to better schools, making me shining angel with beautiful clothes, the working double jobs to make it for all us. Thank you very much, I might not be saying it but I really appreciate it.
Maud Mthethwa, Witwatersrand

For Vanessa Papier’s mom…

My mom passed on a couple of years ago, but I remember and smell her still. I wrote this poem in memory of her about 2 years ago:

Another birthday came and gone,
How long has it been?
I promised myself I won’t cry this year
I promised myself I won’t keep you back no more

You are the one person I need in my life
You are the one person I desire to hold right now
You are the one person who would be able to console
You are the one person I long to touch

Mom I declare that I will always love you
Mom I declare that I will always remember you
Mom I declare that I will always need you
Mom I declare that I will always think of you
Mom I declare that if I grow up I would want to be just like you.

For Shireen’s mom Logs Reddy

My mum is everything under the sun to me, her value is worth more than all the gold, diamonds and riches in the world.  Her dedication, commitment, love, encouragement, motivation, guidance could not have helped me and my 3 boys pull through the most disastrous time in our lives when we were walked out on, when our world fell apart.    Her input in our lives has lead me as a single parent to be a strong, loving, individual.  I would have dropped dead if it were not for her.  No other, not even my brother or sister, can replace her in my life.  Because no one else can give me what she has given me, her love, perseverance, dedication, support, shoulder to cry on, commitment, has helped me accomplish where I am today.   She is the replacement of God on earth, the qualities she possesses, no richness or gold in this world can replace.  I love you, mum, we love you, Ma.  You are the best and the most precious jewel in my life and my boyz life.  May God grant you all the happiness you deserve.
Shireen Govender, Stanger, Kwa Zulu Natal

For Mpho’s mom Maria Ramaisela Mogale

First of all, I like to thank the all mighty  to give me such a great and strong mother. Mama you are one of the best mom in the country.

You have been there during tough time, but hey you stand strong and give us the love of the mother. I really like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I say happy mother’s day, may you please enjoy it and God bless you with many years to come. J

Mpho Gift Mogale, Pretoria

For Anita O’Connell’s amazing mother Annie Schlechter

Mom, there were times that you held my hand, prayed with me, laughed with me and we even cried together. Your such an inspiration to my life and I treasure you dearly. Mothers are precious angels that left their wings in heaven to fill their loved ones’ lives with happiness, laughter, freshly baked biscuits and so much more.

A mother is more than just a parent, she’s a best friend, she’s hope and my mom has been an amazing coach throughout my life, she’s ever committed to her motherly tasks, loyal to her family and friends, hugs are everlasting and the aroma’s from my mom’s kitchen – well nothing can beat that! These very fond and dear memories surrounds my life and will stay with me forever.. I could literally write up pages about my mother and everything she’s done for me, she’s absolutely amazing!

Two months ago, I prayed… I prayed that my mom will pull through this big heart operation that was done one month ago, and thankfully we are so blessed. The operation was a huge success, and I’m grateful that you’ll share this Mothers Day with us.

I only have the best blessed wishes for my mom, may God keep you safe and may you always stay such a beautiful person and a loving inspiration to our lives! You surround us with happiness.

Love you mom with my heart and soul, forever xxxooXXXooxx

For Carol’s mom Anna van Tonder in Tzaneen

For Tumi Moumakwa’s mom:

Mommy=like where am I going to start??? This woman is just too wonderFull – she’s been there for me since the word go, she’s my pillar of strength, my newfound bestfriend…everything I do, I do with her in mind!!! I know there’ve been quite a lot of hectic times, but we’ve been able to go through them with smiles on our faces!! You offer the most wisest words, and offer the greatest love any mother can give and instill the most greatest values within us..MOM you are truly heaven sent and I believe that every day should be mother’s day!!! Wishing you an “Elated”mother’s day mummy!! I LOVE YOU

For the ‘superest’ mom in the world:

Dear Mamma

It is with sincere love that I’m thinking of you today.

You are proof of what it means to be a mother. You love all 5 of your children unconditionally. What does this mean? It means raising your children alone, without a father who plays his role, but who wants to be recognised as a father. You always wanted us to know that he’s our father despite all his short comings. You believed that what happens between a wife and her husband has nothing to do with the children. Children should not feel that they are affected by it, because your father stays your father no matter what, and you WILL love him and you WILL respect him. You made us understand that only God can judge and that not even you as the wife have the right to treat your husband badly, but only love him, since he is the father of your children. This happened despite the criticism of family and friends. Even up until the last moment your love never died. You only received news about his death long after it allegedly happened, but you lived as if he’s going to walk through that door any minute and that is why you were never interested in another man ever.

I vividly remember during those years when you had to rely on one plate of food, sent over by the neighbours, to share among the children and nothing for you to eat. Instead you strapped your stomach with stockings in order to stop your own hunger pains. Yet you raised all of us and still shared with whomever. Being it something to eat, a word of inspiration, prayer, playing the midwife, listening to young people having problems with their parent, caring for the elderly and just being a praying mother. It’s through you constant prayers that we are the children we are today. We are well taken care of, educated, self supporting, and independent individuals. Of course I cannot forget how extremely strict you were (according to today’s standards it would have been considered child abuse), but I don’t regret any of it. I know now it was done out of love, although I did not understand it then. As you still believe in our adult years: “If I had been stricter, you would have even been much better children”. What is outstanding is the fact no matter how strict you were, you never interfere in our lives, because you believe you did the best you could to raise us the be the adults we are today and that we should take responsibility for our own lives. However, you never stop praying for us and the rest of the world.

Mom, I salute you. You are the world’s “SUPEREST” mom.

MAMMA, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH – ALWAYS.

Happy Mother’s Day

For Candice Gurling’s mom Rochelle Ringquest in Cape Town:

To MY Mom

I never knew….

I never knew that I could love like this
At first you were a burden
Then I lay awake at night just to stare at you when I could have been getting the sleep
That I so desperately craved.

You are becoming so cute now at three
I told you when you say your eyes hurt
That it means that you are sleepy.

I worry about you all the time, all the time.
You cannot speak properly
And people hurt with their questions and judgements
But we will show them oneday, they’ll see.

Now Mom this poem sounds as though
it is about my daughter
but it is a dedication to you

Because

I never knew…….

For Louvashni James’ mom Deena Pillay of Durban:

Happy Mother's DayMy mum is the best, still taking care of my younger sister and been there for me when I need someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. She was and still is there for her grandchild that she loves dearly.
She is the most loving and caring person I know, my mum from small always put us first, taking care and making sure that we would have everything.
Mummy we love you and always will.
Happy mothers day and I hope that you really enjoy it.

For Nyameka’s mom in South Africa:

Hi Mamqadi

I don’t have words to say thank you for raising four wonderful kids single handedly.  You are both a mother and father to us.  There is no way I can ever thank God for such a wonderful gift.  Nevertheless, I will make a habit of reminding myself of the various sacrifices my mother made while raising us.  You might have resigned doing other jobs but this motherhood job you can never resign.  I look into your face everyday I’m with you and really thank God for such a brilliant and kind mother.

Happy Mother’s day to you.  May God give you more years so we can appreciate the kind of mother we have.

The Love I could not get from my Mom – Cause I never had a Mom

Thank you Mom for accepting me into your Family. For giving me the love that I have never experienced since I was six. For loving me like your own daughter and giving me the support whenever I needed it.  Being your daughter-in-law has been a very rewarding experience. You are the strength of the family and you keep the family together. You are the greatest grandmother to my kids and thank you for loving them so unconditionally. Thank you for giving birth to my wonderful and loving husband.

I love you Mom, may God keep you longer for us.

For Malebo Mogomotsi’s mother in Rustenburg:

My mother my hero, where would I be without you?
You carried me for 9 months in your warm place called womb
The bond we created while I was still there until the day I was born is so strong.
You are not educated, famous, or even appear on magazines but to me you are the most greatest mom in the whole world.
Thank you for making me the woman that I am today and happy mother’s day.
Malebo Mogomotsi

For the most wonderful mum and friend in the world, Devri’s mum Karin Botha in Potchefstroom:

Ma
How do you tell the most important women in your life just how much she means to you…words aren’t enough to tell you that you are not only the best mum in the world a daughter could ask for but you are also the best friend one can have.

Not one day has gone by that I have not been thankful to have you as my mum. You are an Angel sent from above, that is the only way I can describe you. You are the one that taught me right from wrong, you gave me my voice as a independent woman, you showed me how to be strong and how to be caring. You taught me how to be respectful, honest and humble.  I am honoured to be your daughter.  You gave me all the love in the world and so much more and never asked for anything in return.

I could not have asked for you to bring me up in any better way, I am who I am today because of your love, devotion, encouragement, caring and nurturing nature and your friendship. You are worth more than all the worldly goods put together.

I have been living away from you for 5 years now and I miss you every single day…but distance does not matter not for us Ma, you are the most special person in this world and I hope you always remember that.

Ma, you are in a different league!
I love you 24/7 365
Devri Addison, Bristol, United Kingdom

For Thega’s mother Priscilla Kandasamy who is currently spending time in Leyton in the UK with her beautiful niece Jasmine:

Priscilla although I don’t say I love you when you’re here in SA very often, I do from the bottom of my heart. Not only myself but my wife and kids too, I praise God for blessing you every day and most importantly for being there through all my sorrowful events. This year I miss you even more than ever, maybe it’s because of the current issues with the inlaws since they have chosen to disown their daughter, a month ago .Thank you for showing your heartstring the true love of a parent, more so, a mother’s love. I would have cherished the idea of you spending Mother’s day here in Gauteng, but at the same time I am happy that you are with LITTLE Jazzy.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married….
somebody doesn’t know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother’s heartstrings.

Love
Thega

For Richard’s Mom Rita Rosewarne (who’s 80, enjoys her rugby and cricket and is the happiest woman on earth!!) in Warner Beach, SA:

For Carol Tebbutt’s mom Valda Smith:

Mom, words cannot say how much I love you and you mean to me.  Your palm hearts and welsh rarebit are the best in the world. J When I think back on everything that you have done – offering to pay for me to go overseas if I moved on with my life – helping me build myself up after I was broken down by certain people.

You are always there for me, to give me the best advice when I ask for it.

We never fight – you are so honest and candid and continue to keep the family together.  You are a pillar of strength.

You always know when we need to speak to you and what we want.

The little gifts you give us and the wonderful ring you gave me at Christmas will be cherished forever.

You have just celebrated your 70th birthday and the surprises we gave you will stay with me forever – and I look forward to putting 80 candles on your cake and seeing how high the flames go J ( 60 candles on a cake – good – 70 candles on a cake – better and 80 candles on a cake is going to be BEST)

I thank God for choosing you to be my mom, because YOU are the BEST.

I love you mom,

Happy Mothers day

Your eldest daughter

For Kim’s very cherished mom:

Dear mum.

We have cherished your love care so dearly. When dad walked out on us when I was 5, You single handedly took the reigns of the horse and raised my twin sisters and I with grace and courage. You worked two jobs to put us up to become professional doctors which we are today. Your sacrifice and love inspired us and continues to till today.

Even though you are now in a different province from us, the strong values that you instilled continue to guide us through our jobs and daily lives.

Love u lots.
Kim and twins jhb.

For Gerhard’s very special mom, Ina du Toit in Risiville:

I simply could not resist your invitation to write a dedication to my mother. What is it that makes my mother so very special. I will tell you

Since I was a small boy, I have always known my mother to be a worker. We were eight children and two adults. My mom, me, my sister and brother, five step children and a step farther. She had a full time job. She came home every evening to make food for us all. Then she would start with the ironing and the cleaning of the house. Four in the morning she would get up to do the washing. In my primary schoool days, I remember so well getting up to help her. She never complained. She never lost her temper. In retrospect, how I cringe when I think about the fact that we took her for granted in the way that we did. All of us. She was just always there, and things just always got done.

Now, today, my mother is seventy three years old. She works just as hard today. She does not have it easy, nor does she expect an easy life. She is up and about from five in the morning. She works in her garden, she helps people, she is involved in the church and she takes her responsibilities seriously. She is a disciplined individual and she is an example to me.

Many, many years ago, when I was still a very small boy and my sister was a baby, my mother finally decided to rescue us from a terribly abusive situation. She had nowhere to go, but she took us anyway. There was no welfare or family to help. She coped, and she looked after us. She still does! Anyway, she took a job, a poor job but a job nevertheless. Just the other day we talked about the past. I will never forget the day, sometime in nineteen sixties, when my mom got home one day with a radio and a record player. The very first luxuries that she was able to get for us. Oh, lets not forget about the LP’s. There was at least three records with children’s music. We listened to it day after day. Our clothes were home made, but don’t you think that was a hardship! To this day, my mom can make the very best clothes; far better than you could dream to buy. As a matter of fact, my sister’s little girl have won many modeling competitions wearing the beautiful dresses her grandmother made her.

Every day of my life I wake up with a loving SMS from my mother. She is there for me. She always will be. My entire life is secured by the fact that I know that I have a mother that loves me so very deeply. How on earth to you return such a love? You cannot. But you can be grateful and you can count your very many blessings. I certainly do.

There is no love purer and sweeter than the love of a mother. I am smug and happy in the very comfortable nest of the incredible love of my own mother. How I pity those that do not have this incredible privilage! Oh God, how I cry for those poor old people whose children have left them all alone. Even worse, do those kids know what inceridble gifts they are missing?

Well, I can tell you much more about my mom, Ina Du Toit, but it would take many, many pages. God bless you mum. And thank you God, for blessing me with such a mother, one so very much like your own.

Gerhard Walkinshaw, grateful son of Ina Du Toit
