Mark Pilgrim UPDATE: Thanks fans for prayers as he “remains positive”

Mark Pilgrim has broken his social media silence, through Hot 102.7fm, to thank his tens of thousands of fans for their prayers while he focuses on his treatment and healing journey.

The popular radio personality, who is bravely fighting cancer, explained he has not been updating his social media pages as his attention has been on getting better.

Hot 102.7 FM’s managing director, Lloyd Madurai, said in a short statement on Saturday afternoon:

“Mark Pilgrim is grateful for your prayers and support. Mark has not been active on his social media platforms as he has taken this time to focus on his treatment.

“In spite of the challenges over the last few months, he remains positive.”

Madurai said: “From Mark and the HOT 1027 family, we are extremely grateful for your care and concern.”

After providing regular updates on his healing journey, Mark hadn’t provided a health update in a month… leading to thousands of fans taking to social media in the past week or so to voice their concerns for the much loved DJ.

As reported by The South African website, Pilgrim has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which he revealed in June 2022 had spread to his femur, the base of his spine and lymph nodes.

Gratitude, relief and well wishes have poured in since the health update.

One fan summed up the sentiments of many, writing: “Thank you Lloyd and HOT 102.7 FM for providing us with a credible update on Mark Pilgrim. We appreciate & respect his privacy and understand that he is fighting an immense battle however the silence has been concerning for all his friends & fans that follow him and miss hearing him on the airwaves. Dear Mark we continue to pray for you and your family and we ask for healing mercies. Sterkte boet …….good luck with all the forms of therapy that you are undergoing. God bless you.”
