The Afrikaans internet sensation Radio Raps, as portrayed by Jonathan from the East Rand (Rikus de Beer), will now not only be available on smartphone and computer screens, but will also have his own reality TV programme, Die Radio Raps Show – available in South Africa and abroad.
Fans of Radio Raps’s popular videos and voice notes can look forward to more of his unique sense of humour, only this time for half-hour episodes on the small screen.
In Die Radio Raps Show the cameras follow Jonathan as he interviews celebrities, plays tourist in unexpected towns, cooks, explains complex concepts and chats to kids.
“The lovely thing about this show is that, just like our videos, there’s not really a script. Everything happens at the spur of the moment, especially with the children,” Rikus de Beer, the man behind Radio Raps explains.
“The children caught my bluff several times and I wasn’t allowed to laugh, but what’s nice is that we kept it real…. The audience can expect basic Radio Raps stuff.”
Showmax will launch the first two episodes today, Friday, 19 January, and then a new episode will be available every Saturday for the 11 weeks that follow, fresh from the VIA broadcast at 20:00 on Friday evenings.
In the meantime, Jonathan’s Radio Raps: Life 101 and Radio Raps: Life 201 are available on Showmax, so binge on his off-the-wall life lessons to your heart’s content.
