A group of young musicians are having the time of their lives in South Africa since a video of their song ‘Akekho’ went viral on social media. This morning the band’s Facebook page – The AfterSkoolz – excitedly reported that the SABC had visited them and they’re due to appear on national TV later today.
The youngsters from Vosloorus – in the East of Gauteng – have attracted lots of attention, and fortunately sponsors too, since their video went viral. It appears several companies approached the band to represent them.
This morning they were joined at Vosloorus stadium by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), and urged their fans to #DoCheckTheNewsTodayLater!
AfterSkoolz’ facebook page describes itself as “helping the community by teaching the kids how to play and understand music at an early stage as I know music opens a child’s mind and more RESPECT. No fee just empowering; we teach from 5-13 years or more.”
The future certainly looks bright for these young and deserving South African kids!
