Starfish launched their annual ‘Dinner of Hope’ drive for the festive season, on 1 December (World AIDS Day), and are now inviting anyone anywhere in the world to join in and host a fun dinner with friends and, at the same time, help vulnerable children in South Africa.
As Starfish says, these kids are even more vulnerable right now during the pandemic. Funds from the event will be going directly towards food security, central to Starfish’s COVID-19 response.
“Whilst we can’t host the large parties Dinner of Hope has been known for in the past, the campaign has gone global and virtual in 2020!” says Starfish.
How the Starfish Dinner of Hope works
- Hosts can pick a time and date that suits you best to take part.
- You will receive a “party pack” for your dinner party, including a playlist of South African music, a list of ingredients and a cooking demo from celebrity South African chef, TV personality and author, Zola Nene, and information about Starfish to share with your household and/or virtual guests!
Zola will guide you through her signature South African dish, offering guests the chance to cook along at your leisure and share photos of your creations online. All funds raised during the campaign will fund Starfish’s life saving work, from the mobile ‘wellness wagon’ clinics providing testing, education and PPE supplies to day meals, food garden materials, and the delivery of emergency food parcels to vulnerable households across South Africa.
