Bridgerton fans will be delighted to hear that Bridgerton Season 2 has officially been confirmed. The Netflix show, which features British-Zimbabwean Regé-Jean Page (30), was a surprise hit this Christmas season with many Locked-Down viewers bingeing all eight episodes of the first season in one or two days!
The announcement has been made by none other than the voice of Lady Whistledown herself, who wrote the following:
The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.
The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the (Europe) Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.
However, gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue.
Yours Truly,
Lady Whistledown”
Lord Anthony Bridgerton is the eldest Bridgerton sibling, played by Jonathan Bailey. According to UK reports, casting has begun to find the actress who will play Anthony’s love interest.
Bridgerton’s British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page
Many will be tuning in to see Regé-Jean’s suave Simon Basset… whose sex scenes steamed up screens across the world. Regé-Jean was born in North London to a Zimbabwean mom. He moved, when young, back to Zimbabwe and was raised there until he was 14 and returned to the UK. He now lives in LA. The young actor spoke to Interview magazine about the impact of growing up in different cultures, and said that “home is a relative concept. Home is very much wherever it is that your people are and where you fit in.”
When will Bridgerton Season 2 be released on Netflix?
Lady Whistledown hasn’t let on when the next Bridgerton season will be ready for airing on Netflix… but the guesses in the industry are that it should be ready in time for Christmas ’21.
