The Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton, has safely delivered a baby boy… and her husband Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, was present for the birth.
The couple’s second son was born at 11h01 on Monday 23 April 2018.
According to Buckingham Palace, the newborn baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” said Buckingham Palace in a media statement.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
This is the royal couple’s third child – Prince George is four and was born July 22, 2013 and his sister Princess Charlotte will turn three on May 2.
British Airways celebrated the happy news that the “royal baby has landed safely” by putting a replica of the royal easel in its arrivals hall at Heathrow Terminal 5, to share the happy news with customers who had just landed from their flights… and even sent a sky-high message to long-haul aircraft that were mid-flight for the cabin crew to break the exciting news to customers.
UPDATE:
A large Union Flag has been raised over Buckingham Palace and a State Standard over Windsor Castle to mark the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child. Prince William picked up Prince George and Princess Charlotte so they could meet their new little brother in hospital. The royal couple thanked everyone for their warm wishes… with one of the cutest messages being the one below from Michelle Obama.
