HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco and HSH Prince Albert II visited the new premises of the Princess Charlene Children’s Home, where Princess Charlene unveiled the plaque for the Home.
The former South African Olympic swimmer enthusiastically accepted that the Centre be given her name, since it corresponds to a major role of society, the protection of children.
Princess Charlene, who is passionate about contemporary art, also presented the Director of the Children’s Home, Patrick Serre, with a painting by the contemporary artist Romero Britto.
The Children’s Home has taken eight years to establish and presents a new step in the social policy of the Monegasque Government, to aid the needs of children in distress and their families in Monaco.
The mission of the Princess Charlene Children’s Home will be to provide housing and protection of minors who are under legal supervision. It will be open permanently, every day of the year.
