Housekeeper Lettie and Gardener Frank Finally Get to See the Sea

Pretoria resident Beulah Cronjé made a wish come true for her housekeeper, Lettie, and gardener, Frank… and her pictures are going viral. Lettie and Frank had never flown in an aeroplane or seen the sea!

Beulah, who originates from Jeffrey’s Bay, according to her Facebook profile, and her husband Chris decided after more than 11 years of faithful service to fly the two to Port Elizabeth and show them the ocean at Jeffrey’s Bay.

Beulah writes: “It was a great experience and time. We ate out many times, enjoying ice cream, collecting seashells, buying gifts and filling bottles of sea water to take home. Walked around and above all yes, swam in the sea!”

She says she will be forever grateful in her heart for their happy faces, laughing and joking with each other, their questions (like about the sea extending so far) and their words of thanks for all the fun and food. Hopefully she’s begun a trend!

Here’s Beulah’s original message (in Afrikaans): “Lettie ons huishulp en Frank ons tuinier, het nog nooit in ‘n vliegtuig gevlieg of die see gesien nie. Na meer as 11 jr se getroue diens het ek en my man, Chris besluit om hul wêreldtjie bietjie groter te maak. Ek en hulle twee is per vliegtuig na Port Elizabeth om sodoende die see in Jeffreysbaai vir hul te gaan wys. Dit was ‘n wonderlike ervaring en tyd. Ons het baie uitgeëet, baie kere roomys geniet, skulpe opgetel, geskenke gekoop, bottels vol seewater gevul om saam huis toe te neem, rondgeloop, ja en bowenal- lekker geswem in die see. Hul verstommende en gelukkige gesigsuitdrukkings, die ontsettende baie saam lag en gespot met mekaar, die woorde OE! BAIE DANKIE, HMMM EK EET LEKKER, AL DIE BAIE OULIKE VRAE soos bv ‘loop die see so vanself?’ Dit als en nog baie meer, sal ek dankbaar in my hart bêre.”
