Check out this brilliant video (below) of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton jiving in South Africa. She proved quiet capable of dancing the night away with her South African hosts at a dinner held by SA’s Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in Johannesburg.
Clinton is in South Africa at the moment to help strengthen ties between SA and the USA.
On Tuesday she was dubbed “Nomkhitha” (the one who brought the snow) because of the magical and rare snowfall that occurred during her visit to SA.
During her speech at the dinner she said: “Thank you for what South Africa does every day as a model and a leader about what is possible for women and men alike. Thank you for the great partnership and collegiality that we have developed. And thank you for making us feel so welcome and for producing such an unusual event, snow in Pretoria in August.”
She went on to say “thank you for giving me another name. Nomkhitha will be a name that I will proudly share because I am very proud to be, on my own behalf and on behalf of my country, working with you to help us both chart the kind of future that the people we represent so richly deserve.”
During her visit to SA, she has also inspired the nation with her call for the youth to fulfill former President Nelson Mandela’s legacy. After visiting 94-year-old Madiba at his home on Monday, she said in a speech at the University of the Western Cape:
“The man who did so much to shape the history of a free South Africa has never stopped thinking about the future of South Africa. You, the young generation, are called not just to preserve the legacy of liberty that has been left to you by Madiba and by other courageous men and woman.
“You are called to build on that legacy to ensure that your country fulfills its own promise and takes its place as a leader among nations and as a force for peace, opportunity, equality and democracy, and to stand up always for human rights at home and around the world. Your values don’t stop at your borders.”
