Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a new photo yesterday (Monday 6 June) of their daughter Lilibet as they celebrated her first birthday on Saturday 4 June.
This was Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor’s first visit to England, as she was born in California. During the short visit, Lilibet also met her namesake, great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, although the Queen reportedly banned any photographer from being present as it was a personal meeting. The Queen’s family nickname has been Lilibet since she was a child.
The photo – the second official photo of Lilibet – was taken by long-time friend and photographer Misan Harriman, who said: “It was such a privilege to celebrate the 1st birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers! Joy and face painting all around ❤️??”
Misan also posted three photos of Lilibet, Meghan and his family including a picture of his wife and Meghan with their children.
The photo was taken in Windsor, at a birthday picnic in the beautiful garden of Frogmore Cottage, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex used to live, and again stayed during their short visit to the UK for the 96-year-old Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
According to Reuters, a highlight of the intimate gathering was a cake by American baker Claire Ptak, who created the couple’s wedding cake in 2018.
Prince Harry and his family are back home in Montecito, USA.
