Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters Engaged to US Sports Hero Tim Tebow

Popular former American NFL hero, Tim Tebow, and South Africa’s gorgeous former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters are engaged to get married!

In a message to Demi-Leigh (23) on Facebook, 31-year-old Tim announced: “Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

According to People magazine, the former quarterback proposed to our beautiful Demi-Leigh on Wednesday on his family’s farm in Florida, just outside of Jacksonville.

Apparently he went all out to ensure it was romantic… taking a sunset stroll with Demi-Leigh to a small lake on the farm where he’d had an arbor installed with a bench engraved with the date they first met!

He not only kneeled to propose… but had more surprises in store for the South African beauty queen. After she’d slipped the 7.25-carat solitaire ring onto her finger – SA singer Matthew Mole, who was in the US to do a show in New York, appeared from behind a hay bale to sing one of the couple’s favourite songs – ‘The Wedding Song’!

And that’s not all!

The American sportsman, who is well known for his Christian values, had ALSO flown Demi-Leigh’s family and her closest friends from South Africa to the US to secretly watch the engagement and then celebrate with her!

Wow, that’s LOVE!

To cover up his excitement, in case Demi-Leigh caught on, he pretended he’d bought his dad a brand new truck that he was going to present him with at a belated Christmas dinner that night.

Demi-Leigh was therefore understandably shocked (and delighted) by the proposal… the serenade, and when all her SA friends and family appeared out of nowhere!

According to People, her father asked all the guests to “make a circle” around the happy couple and pray for their future together.

Apparently Demi-Leigh joked to Tim’s dad: “I’m sorry you didn’t get a new truck, but you’re getting a new daughter!”

Back in 2017, Tim – who was then single – had told People he was holding out for someone special with a “good heart” who had to “really love God… I need to be with someone who also shares that faith”. This week he said Demi-Leigh is “just perfect for me”.

American fans of the sportsman have said how happy they are for him. “He sets a great example for standing up for his faith and Christian values. Regardless of the time, God blesses those who place their trust in him,” said one.

Another added: “Timmy Tebow is off the market ladies! She’s really beautiful. What a gorgeous couple!”
