Watch South African Men Around the Country Pledge to Heal and Father a Nation

The night Craig Wilkinson and his family became victims of a violent carjacking attempt in South Africa changed his life forever, and set him on a path to help heal men in SA… and heal a nation.

Craig founded community-based NGO (non-governmental organisation) Father a Nation (FAN)… which runs a number of different programmes aimed at restoring and equipping men for authentic manhood and fatherhood excellence.

In South Africa, over 9 million children come from fatherless homes. Craig believes that within each man is a little boy who wanted his dad to hold him and love him, and the wounded boy who didn’t get that is the one who drinks, misbehaves and abuses.

“The idea behind Father a Nation is that if we can heal and restore men to be good fathers, good role models and good mentors… we could extend that to the community… to society… and to South Africa,” says Craig.

FAN has started a movement to get all men in South Africa to make the pledge – as men and as fathers – to use their strength to love, protect and provide for their loved ones, to stand against abuse, fight for what is right and good and many other positive values.

Men around the country have started taking the pledge – from the Cheetahs in the Free State to fathers in De Aar in the Northern Cape where domestic abuse, fatherlessness and unemployment are rife…
