South African Airways (SAA) has announced a flight from Frankfurt, Germany, on 18 April 2020 for stranded South Africans in UK and the rest of Europe. The SA High Commission in the UK has advised those Saffers still stuck in the UK to fly to Frankfurt, if they would like to board this flight. UPDATE: Sorry, this flight is now full.
The SA High Commission says Flight SA2261 will be departing on 18 April (Saturday) at 18h25 local time, and arriving in Johannesburg at 0505 local time the following morning.

THE PAYMENT DETAILS ARE:
For tickets paid on the day, it can be cash only. The preferred method however is bank transfer beforehand, according to SAA Manager Stan Coetzee. (Those already with an SAA return ticket may not need to pay again, but please check first.)
Cost per passenger: R11,994 (converted to 612 EUR) payable in cash prior to departure. No credit cards are allowed.

Social media users have been quick to accuse the HC of posting a scam. Stan Coetzee, SAA Manager, says: “As an employee of SAA, I confirm that the airline is accepting payment in cash at the airport for this flight. I can also confirm that the South African High Commission is assisting with sharing the information in order to reach as many stranded South Africans as possible. If you are in doubt, contact the SAA offices in Frankfurt.”
He said: “It will be a really pity if you are stranded and do not take opportunity of this flight. I understand people are cautious but I can honestly vouch this is definitely not a scam. Myself, The High Commission and SAA are committed to assist you in getting home.”
According to some who have tried booking, if you’re in the UK you may need to fly to Germany the day before to catch this flight.
