Local residents of the Western Cape are being asked to open their homes and hearts to those less fortunate, who need a roof over their head during the expected gale force winds and heavy rains… as the Cape braces itself for a severe storm. If you’re overseas or in another part of the country, there’s a wonderful way to help too…
If you’d like to make a major difference in the life of a homeless person – who may have nowhere to go for cover during the major downpour that is expected – please consider buying a homeless person a bed for a night or more in the Haven Night Shelter’s awesome “Buy a bed” campaign… which makes their shelters more accessible for people living on the streets.
For just R12 a night you can make sure that somebody has a bed to sleep on and a safe roof over their head.
“With the “Buy a bed” campaign we encourage the community to cover shelter fees for the first 5 nights and help us to be a sustainable organisation,” says the shelter. The Shelter receives about 2,500 new clients per year.
Quite a few churches are apparently also opening tonight for the homeless.
