An enthusiastic adventure conservationist (very) bravely helped rescue a Kudu caught in a fence in Botswana.
Grant Pengilly, a South African field guide and helicopter pilot from Wild Wonderful World, says in a caption on YouTube: “After leaving the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, we came across a young male Kudu caught in a fence.
“With such little vehicle movement in the area, we didn’t want to risk the animal not getting found by park rangers, so we did what we could to try save him, untangling him and helping him to his feet.”
His partner, safari guide Michelle Campbell, can be heard on the video explaining that it appears the kudu tried to jump over the fence and got stuck.
The conservationists, who are travelling through Africa – living their dream of exploring the continent and “doing what we can to save it for future generations” – uploaded the video in November 2017.
It was picked up by The Dodo, and has since gone viral with their shorter, edited version. In just five days, it’s already attracted over 2.7 million views!
