Councillor David Potter from Ward 102 (suburbs mainly within the Randburg area), has inspired his stakeholders with a letter summing up the first 34 days of the DA governing Joburg.
He said “the City was left to ruin for too long and it will take time to resuscitate it.”
Potter then listed some of the “inherited issues” which included late receipt of statements, metered services contract not renewed, understaffed Randburg Clinic, city website in shambles, City Power contractor abuse and tons of fire-trucks left unrepaired… as well as other items.
He then detailed the action that has and is being taken by the DA to rectify each of the problems, and said that while some ANC officials “may work against a DA led administration”, many have had a “positive change of attitude”.
He said grace and time is needed by the Mayor and his team to get the City “back in the fast lane and out of the sick bay”… but promised that “soon, Joburg will be that World Class African City that we have all longed for.” Read the full update here.
Meanwhile in Ethekwini…
DA Ethekwini Councillors have meanwhile uploaded two photos to social media showing how “newly elected DA Ward Councillors Gavin Hegter (top, ward 64) and Warren Burne (ward 30) are working from the parking lots of the Councillors’ Offices after being refused the keys.
The offices were both previously occupied by ANC Councillors.
Our DA Councillors are not easily deterred and will serve their communities regardless!”
But back in Tshwane…
In Tshwane there was chaos today as ANC members broke through a glass door to disrupt a council meeting and accused newly elected DA Mayor Solly Msimanga (who has been accusing the ANC of corruption) of… corruption! Watch video below:
