A young South African with special needs had his lifelong dream come true this weekend during a visit to the United States, when a local police department (PD) not only visited him, but allowed him to eat their donuts and wear a US police vest.
Reece’s brother, Jared Webster, said: “Thank you Bagota Police Department for doing this for my brother Reece ❤️ you guys were amazing to him!!”
The Bogota PD in New Jersey posted photos of the meeting: “Yesterday, we fulfilled a special request from a young man who lives 9,000 miles away in South Africa. Officer Jon Gallipoli met up with Reece, who has special needs.
“He has a deep love? for law enforcement ⚫️?⚫️ and wanted to meet a police officer from the USA?? while visiting locally.
“He also wanted permission to eat donuts from Officer Gallipoli. Of course, he was given the permission to take a break from his police duties to have a Donut ? and also got to see what a real police vest feels like.”
Reece’s friends and family took to social media to thank Bogota PD. One said: “Melts my heart. You guys made his lifelong wishes come true, he’ll carry them for the rest of his life, good job??????.” Another added: “Sending gratitude all the way from South Africa. You go Reece… he is so precious.”
Reece’s brother said: “How special this was for my brother Reece in the States ❤️❤️ this meant the absolute world to him. Thank you Shannon Webster and Jon.”
Bogota PD are also trying to connect Reece’s mum with a Johannesburg police officer who has offered that he too would like to meet Reece!
