South African Tourism welcomed sleep advocate and Huffington Post and Thrive Global founder Arianna Huffington to South Africa with this beautiful version of ‘Thula Baba’, the popular Zulu lullaby sung to many South African children to help them sleep.

SA Tourism said: “Hi @ariannahuff, we wanted to share a special South African welcome just for you. #wowSouthAfrica.”

Arianna, who has sold Huffington Post to AOL, spoke at the Discovery Leadership Summit at Sandton Convention Centre Monday.

She told the audience that we’re under the illusion that we need to multitask and become burn-out to succeed… which is what happened to her, until she collapsed in 2008.

She now stresses the importance of sleep and recharging one’s batteries, and has authored ‘The Sleep Revolution’. Sleep deprivation, she says, can lead to memory loss and Alzheimer’s Disease.

She said it’s important to: “Identify a time at the end of the day when you turn off your devices and gently escort them out of your room…”

The leadership summit has ‘Inspiring Minds’ as its theme this year, about stepping beyond conventional boundaries.

The event provides a platform for some of the world’s most brilliant thinkers to share their leadership strategies.

This year’s thinkers include, amongst others, Jack Welch, Former Chairman and CEO of General Electric; former Manchester United and England Football captain David Beckham; and Pravin Gordhan, Finance Minister of South Africa.
