South African tennis star Kevin Anderson has advanced to the last 16 in the Men’s Singles at the US Open in New York, but unfortunately Raven Klaasen and his doubles partner have been knocked out.
Friday was full of action for the South Africans as Anderson battled it out against Canadian teen sensation Denis Shapavalov. In a nail-biting match, right to the finish, Anderson won 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4,6-4.
There was however disappointment for Raven and his partner, Michael Venus, as they lost in the second round of the men’s doubles, according to Tennis South Africa. They lost 3-6, 6-7 to the South American duo of Nicolás Jarry and Máximo González.
Anderson will next face 9th seed, Dominic Thiem, of Austria.
