One more reason to pick Cape Town as your travel destination
Cape Town International Airport earns another accolade…
It’s official: Cape Town International Airport is one of the world’s BEST airports when it comes to passenger queues!
It’s yet another accolade for the airport that was voted by Skytrax in March as Cleanest, Best Staff AND Best Airport in Africa (for the eighth time in a row).
According to a study by Casaga, Cape Town International Airport has now placed third in the rankings for best airports in the world for queuing. Casaga based its findings on reviews left by passengers on a site called Airline Quality.
Ranking queuing may seem trivial, but it is a significant aspect to the traveller experience – from check in to baggage drop, screening, border control, gate delays, baggage pick up and customs.
And with 4.7 billion passengers in 2020 (just before the pandemic) it means literally millions are flying… causing longer queues.
So, with passenger numbers set to continue increasing, this got Casago thinking: which airports across the world are the best and worst for queueing times? And we’re very proud that Cape Town featured in the Top Three!
Key Findings
● Singapore Changi Airport is the world’s best for queueing times (74.50% of passengers rate the queuing times either 4 or 5 stars). Tokyo in Japan and Canberra Airport in Australia ranked fourth and fifth.
● The world’s worst airport for queuing is Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport in France (just 1.59% of reviews are 4 or 5 stars)
● The UK is home to three of Europe’s worst-rated, London Stansted Airport (8.88%), London Luton Airport (9.48%) and Belfast Intl. Airport (10.53%)
● Jamaica is the worst country in the world for airport lines.
Just one more reason to pick Cape Town, South Africa, as the destination for your next holiday if you’re currently living abroad!
