Meet the latest tourist attraction at Fish Hoek beach: Super Sandman
Super Sandman has been brightening up the beach for winter tourists to Fish Hoek with amazing sand art…
For the last few weeks, locals and foreign tourists have been flocking to Fish Hoek beach to witness the latest incredible creations by ‘Super Sandman’, aka Lindokuhle Inocent.
This week he paid tribute to women on Women’s Day and on 6 August encouraged his followers (over 7,000 on Facebook!) to “pray for our beautiful city of Cape Town” which was experiencing the taxi strikes. Super Sandman’s previous work includes raising awareness about rhino poaching, building castles in the sand, sculpting a VW (a car he would love to one day own) and even a kombi, plus so much more.
Hailing originally from St Lucia in KwaZulu-Natal, Super Sandman now lives in Hout Bay and says he is “planning to stay here as long as I can”. He’s in demand and even takes commissions – from private birthday messages to business promotions.
The 32-year-old has been creating beach art for 22 years, and says no matter how cold it gets in the Western Cape over winter, his work will always go on because that’s how he earns his living. For locals his sensational sand art brightens their day.

For those of us not lucky enough to be able to visit in person, you can view photos and videos of Super Sandman’s stunning sand sculptures on the Fish Hoek page on Facebook, or follow Super Sandman on FB here. If you’re planning a trip to South Africa, Fish Hoek beach is on the False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula.
