DON’T MISS the global event -happening this weekend. It will be broadcast live to the world from NYC…
South African expat and Hollywood superstar Charlize Theron is set to join a host of stars on the 2023 Global Citizen Festival stage, while will be broadcast live to the world this weekend from New York City, USA.
The festival is taking place this Saturday, 23 September, in Central Park, where 60 thousand global citizens are expected (hopefully including South Africans now living in New York). It’s set to be a day of action and advocacy for equity, as world leaders gather for the UN General Assembly. The Global Citizen organisation’s mission is to end extreme poverty NOW.
Charlize will join international stars like Chris Rock and Katie Holmes, as well as talented fellow South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha and British-South African endurance swimmer and ocean advocate Lewis Pugh, on Central Park’s Great Lawn. Politicians, leading advocates, the WHO Director General, UN Deputy Secretary General, and several other world dignitaries will be present – calling for change for the world’s most marginalised populations.
The 2023 Global Citizen Festival will be headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jung Kook and Anitta, with performances from Conan Gray, D-Nice, Sofia Carson and Stray Kids.
“To have a powerhouse of broadcasters and streamers taking the Global Citizen movement to the whole world on September 23 presents a significant opportunity to drive action in this critically important year for social change,” said Hugh Evans, Co-Founder & CEO of Global Citizen. “We couldn’t be happier to have truly inspiring world leaders taking the stage alongside Charlize Theron, Chris Rock, Katie Holmes and Eddie Izzard and this year’s sensational lineup. It’s going to be an unforgettable day in Central Park.”
