Admiral’s Waterfall in FULL flow again – PHOTOS
Stunning photos by NIGEL RILEY. If you’re heading home to the Western Cape for a holiday, don’t miss Admiral’s Waterfall…
If you’re planning a trip to South Africa, it’s a great time to visit Admiral’s Waterfall in Simon’s Town, which is looking spectacular following the rains in the Western Cape this winter. Local photographer NIGEL RILEY captured these stunning photos.
For residents, Nigel says: “A waterfall on our doorstep is once again in full flow.” The waterfall doesn’t flow all year round which makes it particularly special when it is in full flow. Hikers say it is a breathtaking scene to behold from the top.
If you’ve never visited the waterfall and its pool before, here are some things you should know about one of the area’s hidden gems, tucked away at the top of a deep ravine:
- It’s on a great hiking trail, less than 3km from Simon’s Town.
- Start your hike at 37 Barnard Street, Mount Pleasant.
- The route is moderately challenging and takes about 1 hour and 13 minutes to complete.
- According to one reviewer on AllTrails: “To the fall and back is about 1.2km. The climb up to Nuisance’s grave at the top of steps, is easy technically, but quite tough going for if you are not fit. The view from the top is definitely worth the climb. You will see the full False Bay Panorama.”
- You could picnic at Admiral’s Waterfall and enjoy the view, or head into town to one of the fab restaurants.
