South Africans are mobilised! And they’re being urged to keep the momentum going. Following the incredible success of Friday’s marches nationwide (and internationally) – which some members of the ANC have tried to downplay – the opposition parties have announced their proposed National Day of Action will take place on Wednesday, 12 April 2017.
It happens to fall on President Jacob Zuma’s birthday. His 75th.
South Africans are invited to Pretoria where the gathering at Church Square will take place between 09h00 and 12h00, followed by a march to the Union Building. All in a bid to either get Zuma to step down… or for the ANC to recall him.
The united group has posted the following list of reasons why they want Zuma to step down as President of South Africa:
One of the opposition groups – the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) – said in a statement that they congratulation South Africans on the success of 7 April 2017 and now “call on all South Africans to come out in even more numbers on 12 of April, 2017 on the National Day of Action to continue our rolling mass action against the Zuma regime.
“We must all not retreat until Zuma steps down and a new president is inaugurated in South Africa,” said the EFF in a statement on their site.
