South Africa’s popular Ndlovu Youth Choir – who shot to fame internationally when they made it through to the finals of America’s Got Talent last year – have posted a video with tips on avoiding getting the novel Coronavirus.
The choir said on social media: ” There are already many dangerous myths and misunderstandings about the Coronavirus/COVID-19.
“We would like to assist by sharing a short video where we explain some basic guidelines…”
The anti-Coronavirus guidelines include:
- Don’t go to the doctor, just call.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Don’t panic. Don’t spread rumours.

IMPORTANT: If you need to cough or sneeze, it’s recommended that you do so into the crook of your arm (bend your arm and cough into your elbow)… rather than coughing into your hands as seen in the video.
As WHO says: “Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.”
Contrary to rumours that South Africans are safe because of the current warm climate, the WHO has also said: “From the evidence so far, the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measures if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by frequently cleaning your hands. By doing this you eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that could occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.”
