A Capetonian choreographer’s mission to show American singer songwriter Meghan Trainor just how talented South Africans are, is taking off RAPIDLY… with his video going viral so fast, it’s clocking up views quicker than you can say “it’s all about the bass”.
Although this isn’t about the bass. It’s about awesome South African talent. And it’s a video performed to Trainor’s “Me Too”.
Dancer, director and choreographer Rudi Smit is internationally-recognised – he’s worked in over 20 countries on five continents. And with a clear belief in the talent of his countrymen he’s used his skill and experience to showcase the very best South African moves in the video.
And he hopes that Trainor will see it.
Rudi wrote on Facebook: “Please help us get this concept & idea to Meghan Trainor so that she can see what talent we have here in SA 🙂” [So if there are any expats out there who know Trainor or her people… please share!]
Viewers are LOVING the video. In less than three and a half hours it had been viewed over 13,000 times!
Rudi wrote on Facebook: “This is absolutely crazy!!… Thank you so much for the support and love!!”
By 23:27 South African time, the video has been viewed over 57,000 times!
Rudi said: “It was great to finally put together a video with my family, Untimitive. Thank you all for working hard and bringing this vision to life! I couldn’t have done it with any other team. :)”
He then listed the ENTIRE team – Dylan Pereira, who filmed and co-directed the video, editor Willem Botha, AND every single one of the dancers.
He also gave a special shout out to Norman Henshilwood High School and Milnerton High School for the use of their premises.
“Without these locations the video could not have come to life as it did,” wrote Rudi.
And without Rudi’s enthusiasm, talent and generosity of spirit this incredible video would never have happened.
So come on Meghan Trainor – tell us what you think!!!!
