Accolades have poured in for the Ndlovu Youth Choir, who this week represented not just South Africa, but all of Africa, on the world’s largest entertainment stage – America’s Got Talent (AGT) – singing an original song: We Will Rise! But none have made us as tearfully proud as the one from Stevie Nicks… and the band’s incredibly moving reply to the Fleetwood Mac legend.
The Limpopo choir were invited back to the USA for AGT: All Stars, which sees 60 favourite acts from the last 13 seasons compete for the ultimate title. Sadly, the South African group was eliminated this week (after coming second) BUT they still flew the SA flag high and won the hearts and respect of musicians like Nicks!
The iconic artist wrote on social media:
“To the Ndlovu Youth Choir – I just wanted to congratulate you on your brilliant and moving performance last night on America’s Got Talent. It made me feel like maybe – someday, with your help – the whole world will rise again. You Are The World!”
She signed off with an amazing request: “P.S. Can I be in your choir?!”
The answer is YES!!! The Ndlovu Youth Choir tweeted: “What an unbelievable honour to receive a letter from rock & roll royalty. Siyabonga Mama @StevieNicks ❤️??”

And then they posted this short video of them singing Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Seven Wonders’ and said:
“Dear Mama Stevie Nicks. Thank you for your inspirational letter. It means so much to us. We would love to have you in our choir. Your beads are waiting for you, and our conductor will send you a list of songs and choreography you need to learn. You might know our latest song, ‘Seven Wonders’. We look forward to welcoming you to our family. Much love, Ndlovu Youth Choir. ❤️??”
One Fleetwood Mac fan said: “I envision an awesome collaboration here… starting as a beautiful ballad and moving into something upbeat and inspirational!” We’ll be watching this space!

Fellow judge Simon Cowell also praised the band for returning to the stage with their own material. “I thought it was just strong, I got it. I think (judge) Howie (Mandel)’s reference as a Broadway show is absolutely on the money. And what an unbelievable reaction from the audience behind me. ‘Cause that you can’t fake.”
One of thousands of SA fans wrote on Stevie Nicks’ post: “So very proud to be South African. They stand for what most South Africans want. I love the people of this beautiful country. ?????? ❤️❤️”
