After going viral a year ago with a brilliantly choreographed video that caught the attention of US star Meghan Trainor, Capetonian choreographer Rudi Smit has created a new video that showcases the best of South African dance moves.
This time the moves are made to the sounds and beat of Dutch artist Dopebwoy’s ‘Cartier’, released earlier this year (watch original below).
The video was filmed in Foreshore, Cape Town, and is again edited by London-based Willem Botha.
The first video that went viral – set to Trainor’s ‘Me Too’ – landed Rudi at the top of YouTube in South Africa, and performed well on EllenTube.
Rudi, who is also a dancer and director, is internationally-recognised and has worked in over 20 countries on five continents. He’s been on a mission to showcase the talent of South Africans.
After watching Rudi Smit’s ‘Me Too’, Trainor herself tweeted: “WOW WOW WOW UNBELIEVABLE ?????? slay my life! #MeToo #RudiSmit”.
Rudi uploaded his latest offering a few days ago and said #bringonsummer!
