The show’s creators and cast bid farewell to their loyal viewers on Friday and celebrated the end of a cherished era in local entertainment.

THE FIRST EPISODE OF 7DE LAAN AIRED IN 2000
The beloved series, which first graced South African screens on April 4, 2000, was the brainchild of Danie Odendaal and captured the hearts of audiences across the nation.

Set in the fictional Hillside suburb of Johannesburg, the show began with a single weekly episode before expanding to five days a week. Throughout its existence, ‘7de Laan’ garnered numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Female Villain Award, which was awarded to Deirdre Wolhuter for her portrayal of Mariaan Welman.
