A very dedicated traffic officer in Gauteng has been filmed clinging onto the bonnet of a moving vehicle, in presumably an effort to get the job done. Despite the video going viral on Tuesday in SA, there are scant details on what actually took place and how the cop came to be lying on the bonnet in the first place. See UPDATE at bottom of article.
According to Krugersdorp News the incident took place yesterday, Monday 16 Sep, on Robert Broom Drive in Krugersdorp; and Mogale City Traffic Department has confirmed it was a Gauteng traffic officer.
In the video a minibus can be seen finally swerving in front of the car to force the driver to a standstill, and to hopefully allow the officer to alight safely. Krugersdorp News says the minibus was unmarked and an official vehicle chasing the car.
The footage – which has been uploaded by multiple sources – was filmed by the passenger of another vehicle.

UPDATE: According to the Gauteng Dept of Community Safety, the traffic officer had been in the midst of issuing the driver with a traffic fine after catching her using a cellphone while driving. The annoyed driver, drove off, and the officer grabbed onto the bonnet.
The dept said: “The conduct displayed by the driver is not only reckless but also smacks of arrogance.” The driver was arrested for reckless driving, failing to comply with a traffic officer and resisting arrest, according to local reports. She was also fined for driving while using a cellphone.
