Cape Town father Mervyn John Solomons-Maculado took his two teenage sons on an “awareness drive” this weekend… to Theewaterskloof Dam, Cape Town’s main resource for drinking water. What they witnessed first hand shocked them… (watch video below).
“My boys were shocked to the core when they saw the devastation of global warming,” said the Kuilsrivier dad. “They normally just hear about this on TV. All the sand in all the pics is normally under water and never visible.”
Last week the City of Cape Town declared the dam level situation “critical”.
Dam levels, on Tuesday last week, were at 22.8% for storage levels, and since the last 10% of a dam’s water is mostly not useable, that means dam levels have effectively dropped to below 12.8%.
