ADELAIDE (Reuters) – The Netherlands lit up the final day of Group 2 action on Sunday in Adelaide, Australia, when they dashed South Africa’s semi-final hopes at the Twenty20 World Cup by pulling off a huge upset against Temba Bavuma’s team.
Cricket South Africa said: “The Netherlands’ bowlers came up with the goods as they held their nerve to claim the win.”
Their 13-run victory was a gift to India, sending them through to the semi-finals and injecting fresh life into Pakistan’s bid for a place in the last four. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by five wickets in their final Super 12 match to join Group 2 rivals India in the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup in Adelaide on Sunday.
India, who conclude their group campaign against Zimbabwe later on Sunday in Melbourne, and Pakistan are level on six points, while South Africa finished on five.
New Zealand and England have qualified for the semi-finals from Group 1.
Don’t miss Carte Blanche this Sunday (or Tuesday if you live abroad) – why does the SA cricket team choke, and can they recover?
The Game changing moment, no Netherlands fan will forget this.
