Prince Charles Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Prince Charles has tested positive for Corona Virus and is self-isolating with his wife Camilla at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, Clarence House disclosed in a statement Wednesday morning.

The 71-year-old heir to the British throne is displaying only mild symptoms, according to a Clarence House spokesperson, and “otherwise remains in good health”. The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla (72) has also been tested, said the spokesman in the statement, but does not have the COVID-19 virus.

The Clarence House statement said: “The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.

“In accordance with government and medical advice, the prince and the duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.

“The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire, where they met the criteria required for testing.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

The Prince of Wales attended a meeting with Monaco’s Prince Albert II a couple of weeks ago… who has also tested positive to the coronavirus. The Monaco prince, who is married to South African expat Charlene (nee Wittstock), became the first head of state to announce his positive testing for coronavirus last Thursday 19 March 2020.

The British public have reacted with well wishes for Prince Charles’ speedy recovery, concern for his health as he’s next in line to the throne, and upset that royalty receive coronavirus tests but not doctors and nurses. British TV personality Piers Morgan said: “I don’t begrudge Prince Charles & Camilla having COV-19 tests given he is the heir to the throne. But there are legitimate questions to be asked about why members of the royal family can instantly get them but NHS workers can’t.”

Meanwhile Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Queen “remains in good health”.

The Palace said: “The Queen last saw The Prince of Wales briefly on the morning of 12 March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.”

Prince Charles’ son William has been working hard on a campaign to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.

In a tweet five days ago, after visiting with health personnel, the Duke of Cambridge tweeted: “Catherine and I were proud to visit staff working at NHS 111, to pass on our personal thanks, along with those of my grandmother and father, to staff working around the clock to provide care and advice to those that need it most.”
