Prince Albert and Princess Charlene deny marriage breakup report

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have issued a statement denying “malicious rumours” that they are separating.

French Magazine ROYAUTÉ has claimed in a cover story that the couple – who married 12 years ago – are in the process of separation. The headline claimed that Charlene was leaving. The article itself is bizarre, as if they have republished a story from over a year ago. The problem, it appears, is that many gossip websites have picked up on the article as if it’s new news, and the rumours have spread on social media… which has led the Palace to comment.

The couple are used to rumours, particularly since 2021 when the former South African Olympic swimmer spent a large part of the year in SA due to ENT complications that allegedly prevented her from flying.

In recent times, Princess Charlene has been carrying out her royal duties, with many fans remarking on how healthy and happy she has seemed.

In the statement, issued by the Monaco Palace, the press office said they “formally deny the malicious rumours”.

According to the Daily Mail, a palace spokesperson said:

“I would like to formally deny the malicious rumors peddled by the French magazine Royauté. Please disregard this article which is totally unfounded.”

Just a week ago, on 14 March, Prince Albert II celebrated his 65th birthday with a family lunch including Princess Charlene and their children, twins Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

Prince Albert recently confirmed that both he and Princess Charlene will be attending King Charles’ coronation on 6 May.

Prince Albert said King Charles is “a very educated man and someone with a great sense of humour” and that “I’m certain that it’s going to be an incredible ceremony and a very moving one”.
