A beautiful, yet sad, video filmed on Clifton Beach in Cape Town shows the impact that the longest ever drought in recorded history is having on all those who live in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
A desperately thirsty bird drinks from the hand of local Cape Town resident Joel Graham.
Joel posted the video on Facebook on Sunday, saying: “An Egyptian Goose landed on Clifton beach. We calmly approached each other. I offered water for her to drink.
She drank then she flew off.
“We should all put a bowl of water out for the wild animals;)”
As the drought drags on and dams run dry, Day Zero is scheduled for 16 April 2018, when all residential taps will be turned off and Capetonians will need to queue for water.
