South African police have reportedly arrested three suspects in connection with the case of missing Cape Town woman Meghan Cremer. They were found in possession of her stolen vehicle, although there is no trace of Meghan, an avid horse rider.
The 30-year-old brunette was last seen on Saturday evening, wearing a green top and black tracksuit pants, leaving a farm in Philippi at around 18h24. She did not return home, and after failing to turn up at work on Sunday she was reported missing. Her distraught brother, Paul, issued an urgent appeal for Capetonians to help find his sister, and the Pink Ladies published a missing person post.
Netwerk24 reported yesterday that at around 01h00 on Monday police discovered Meghan’s car in Lotusrivier near Grassypark in the Western Cape.
News24 subsequently reported that WC police have arrested three suspects.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk told News24: “Three suspects – aged 27, 34 and 35 – were arrested after they were found in possession of stolen property [a vehicle] registered in the name of the missing person.
“Detectives are following up all possible leads in order to establish if there is a link between the suspects and the missing person.”
News24 says the suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court, charged with “possession of suspected stolen property”.
The search is ongoing.
