More extreme weather conditions hit South Africa today with a tornado that swept through Grootvlei in Mpumalanga Tuesday afternoon, spinning near Eskom’s power station in the area.
Local farmers spotted the tornado near Heidelberg, and it has been officially confirmed by South Africa Weather Service.
The weather service tweeted: “AWS can confirm that from radar images that this is a tornado that occurred at around 15:15 on 15 Nov 2016.”
SA Weather Service also confirmed a tornado at Ennerdale yesterday, which was rated as EF01 tornado (tornado intensity usually goes up to EF05 which is winds of over 320 km/h).
The tornado had a huge debris cloud as it lifted dust near the station.
According to reports there was fortunately no damage, with the tornado leaving behind only these spectacular photos and videos.
