The man seen battling to get out of a luxury car in South Africa is apparently not President Jacob Zuma’s nephew Khulubuse Zuma.
In the video – which went viral (watch below) and was shared most notably by Police Minister Fikile Mbalula – the man is seen struggling to get out of his Lamborghini, and eventually falls out. Mbalula tweeted: “Tough Times!!”
South African media, including The Citizen, shared the video alleging it to be Zuma’s cousin, but yesterday the newspaper corrected its article and said it had verified that the man in the video is not Khlulubuse.
Last month it was reported that Khulubuse had fallen on hard times after the collapse of Pamodzi mines in Orkney and Springs… which his company, Aurora Empowerment System, had taken over in 2009. In conflicting reports, it was alleged that he was either too broke to pay the settlement deals and even defend himself in court… or that he had moved to the United Arab Emirates and was unconcerned.
Yesterday The Citizen said Khulubuse was “understood to be out of the country”, and therefore not the man in the car video… and as many people have pointed out, the video appears to have been filmed in the USA anyway!
