The African National Congress (ANC) has announced the sad passing of Happy Joyce Mashamba, who was deployed as Limpopo’s MEC for Agriculture.
Mashamba previously served as a member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC.
On Wednesday night the ANC said it “extends its deepest condolences to her husband, ANC stalwart, Cde George and her family as well as to all her comrades and friends.”
Earlier this month Mashamba made the news when DA Provincial Leader Jacques Smalle revealed that she, along with six of the province’s 11 top politicians, was being driven around in a R941,513 Mercedes-Benz care of taxpayers.
No reason for her passing was given. However in October 2017, Smalle had expressed “concern” at Mashamba’s deployment as she had been “suffering from poor health for most of this year. Premier Mathabatha could have given Ms Mashamba a break.”
