South African hip hop artist Linda ‘Pro’ Mkhize tragically passed away on Wednesday evening at the age of 37.
According to a family statement he was visiting friends when he suffered a severe seizure.
Tributes have poured in for the star of hits like ‘Woz’uzobabona’, with the hashtags #DankieSan, #RipLindaMkhize and #RipProKid all trending in South Africa’s Top 10 on social media.
The family statement reads:
“The legendary SA hip-hop Artist, affectionately known as ProKid of Hip Hop, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
“He suffered a severe seizure attack, whilst visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist, they did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 20h38.
“ProKid’s family requests that the media respect their privacy during this tragic period of time. Further details will be furnished as soon as his family has gathered.”
ProKid is survived by his wife Ayanda and 3-year-old daughter Nonkanyezi.
