Once again I found myself alongside some of Cape Town’s finest. Yesterday afternoon – Wednesday 17/02/16 – I drove up to the Koeberg Nature Reserve to document the brave efforts of our Firefighting Crews.
The blaze had already made its way East of the reserve and was flaring up at various spots.
One incident was too close for comfort as a flare up threatened a nearby house.
A helicopter nearby managed to water bomb its supply within seconds, followed by three trucks that sped around the field to reach the fire.
A quick and co-ordinated response saved the property.
Well done to the City of Cape Town Fire Department teams that I spent my time with and to Volunteer Wildfire Services , Working on fire and other fire services assisting.
Thank you to NCC Environmental Services for my protective gear!
