eThekwini Municipality said Wednesday morning: “City officials are cleaning up after #DurbanStorm caused havoc in our beautiful City. Electricians have been working through the night to restore electricity in many parts of the City. We would like to thank residents for their patience during this time.”
Parents were advised by the Education Department to liaise with schools this morning on whether to send their children to school or not today. Many schools were damaged yesterday, as well as five hospitals. KZN MEC’s and Ethekwini Mayor will inspect the damage, caused by the storm, this morning.
Durban came to a standstill yesterday as the storm flooded motorways, caused delays at the airport, left thousands of train commuters stranded as services were suspended, and caused the closure of Durban Port.
Salvage operations continue at Durban harbour this morning; and the Port Terminals will remain closed until further notice.
KZN motorists are urged to drive cautiously as some roads are still flooded, and others are filled with debris.
