Condolences for Kwaito Musician Mshoza, Dead at 37

The Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture has conveyed condolences to the family, music and arts fraternity on the passing of popular kwaito musician, Nomasonto Maswanganyi, who was better known as Mshoza.
Mshoza death – at the age of 37 – was confirmed on Thursday by her manager Thanduxolo Jindela.
Jindela said in a statement: “It is with great sadness to announce the untimely death of Nomasonto ‘Mshoza’ Maswanganyi. The Kortes hitmaker succumbed peacefully in the early hours of this (Thursday) morning. She will be deeply missed as an ultimate entertainer who loved being on stage. Not only did she radiate star quality, Mshoza was a media darling.”
According to Channel24, she died due to complications from diabetes, which she had been diagnosed with in 2014. She was not Covid-19 positive.
As tribute poured in from the music industry, Beauty Dlulane, chairperson of the Portfolio committee said: “Mshoza’s passing is a loss to the music industry and the entertainment landscape. The First Lady of Kwaito will be missed in many quarters for her energy, liveliness and humility.”
Mshoza, who was outspoken on issues such as gender-based violence – having been a victim herself, is survived by her two children. – SAnews.gov.za
