The African National Congress has, controversially, reinstated two of its members who figured prominently in a report exposing the R2 billion fraud committed at VBS Mutual Bank. Eight ringleaders of the fraud were arrested and charged two weeks ago.
The decision to reinstate Limpopo provincial deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani and treasurer Danny Msiza
Radzilani featured in the news at the time Motau’s report came out in 2018, most memorably for complaining about getting only R300,000 as a Christmas present when other officials got more. When she was mayor of Vhembe municipality, it deposited R300 million in VBS Mutual Bank.
No criminal charges have been brought against Radzilani or Msiza.
